People Power
People from Harleston are doing many other things to help our protect our environment.

Re-User Bags
A local lady came up with the idea to make tote bags from recycled material which would otherwise have gone to landfill. They are fully branded 'Re-User' bags with a printed cotton label and replace multiple plastic bags. They sell for £5 and generate £2.50 for local causes via the Charity shop whilst the balance enables the campaign to be self-sustaining.
Replace Plastic
The chairman of the local branch of the Rotary Club set his mission for the year to raise awareness of the harms of single use plastics and encourage use of alternative products.

Spreading the Word
A local environmentalist ran with the concept of bottom up delivery of nature recovery and has created initiatives to spread the word. There are window stickers and bookmarks for people to show they support the message. He lead the creation of a large butterfly mobile which hung from the roof of the church. He has written articles and given presentations on the subject as it far afield as Yorkshire.
Elsewhere, in 2025 Heritage Open Days used a play on the theme of 'architecture' to showcase the work of 'nature's architects'. The word is out.
