I'm a Harleston Re-user

Back in February, Robin Twigge the landlord of the Swan Hotel, was chatting with some of his regulars about eliminating single use plastics – his mission during his Presidential year. From this and in collaboration with the Bullock Fair Charity Shop and local sewing folks, the Harleston Re-user, replacing plastic shopping bags was officially launched on the 21 March embracing Harleston’s status as a Nature Recovery parish.
The Rotary Club set up their stall with the fully lined, top quality handmade bags made with fabrics diverted from landfill by Sally Wilkinson and her team at the charity shop, alongside literature about the threat of plastics in the environment. Lots of chat with passers-by and now a total of 31 bags sold for continuous and attractive re-use – thank you to all those who sewed, purchased or just stopped for a chat!

Briefly, the sturdy and attractive £5 bag is fully branded with a printed cotton label, replaces multiple plastic bags that end up in smaller and smaller particles damaging our environment, diverts fabrics from land fill, generates £2.50 for local causes via the Charity shop whilst the balance enables the campaign to be self-sustaining.
Please help by either buying a bag from the Bullock Fair Charity Shop or joining our wonderful sewing team.
You could even start your own re-user group. Here is the pattern, just click to open and download the PDF version.
